Audio CleanupEdit and finish
Audio cleanup: remove background noise, hum and uneven levels
Audio cleanup in the Muvomi editor removes background noise from audio and video recordings, clears up a voice and sets its loudness. You listen to the result against the original before anything changes.
What Audio Cleanup can do
Noise cancel in three strengths
Reduces steady noise such as hiss, fans, air conditioning and room tone, and filters out low rumble. Light, Balanced and Strong take off about 10, 18 and 28 decibels; Strong also closes the noise floor between phrases.
Voice enhancer
Clears muddiness around 240 Hz, lifts presence around 3 kHz, adds air above 9 kHz, evens out the dynamics and sets the loudness. Balanced and Strong also soften harsh S sounds.
Studio sound in one press
For a spoken recording when there is no time to choose settings: it reduces steady noise and rumble, evens the voice with gentle compression and sets loudness to about -16 LUFS.
Level loudness
Brings a recording to about -14 LUFS with a true-peak ceiling of -1 dB, a common target for online video.
Remove hum
Cuts narrow notches at 50 and 60 Hz, where mains hum sits, and at 100, 120, 150 and 180 Hz above them. Broadband hiss is a job for Noise cancel.
Listen before you keep it
Every result plays in the preview with two buttons, Processed and Original. Keep this version puts the cleaned clip in the edit; Discard leaves the edit as it was.
The source recording is preserved
Each tool writes a new clip to your library and never alters the file it started from. Undo puts the original back on the timeline.
Picture and timing left alone
On a video clip only the sound is processed, and an H.264 picture in an MP4 is copied across without being re-encoded. The length does not change, so cuts and captions stay in sync.
Remove silence and filler words
Remove silence finds stretches quieter than -35 dB that last longer than 0.55 seconds and cuts them from every track, keeping a short breath at each side. Remove filler words cuts um, uh, erm and hmm from a captioned recording.
How Audio Cleanup works
Select a recording
Put a video or audio clip on the editor's timeline, select it and open Audio.

Compare the two versions
Press play and switch between Processed and Original as often as you like.
Keep it or discard it
Keep the cleaned version, or discard it and try another tool or strength. Export when the sound is right.

Audio cleanup questions, answered
How do I remove background noise from a video?
Select the clip in the editor, open Audio and press Cancel noise. The picture stays as it is, and the cleaned sound comes back for you to compare with the original before you keep it.
What kinds of noise can audio cleanup remove?
Steady noise: hiss, fans, air conditioning, room tone, low rumble and mains hum. Sudden sounds such as a door or a car horn, and other people's voices, are not removed.
Will it change my original recording?
No. Every tool saves its result as a new clip in your library and leaves the source file as it was. Undo on the timeline puts the original back.
What loudness does it set?
Level loudness aims for about -14 LUFS with a true-peak ceiling of -1 dB. Studio sound and Voice enhancer finish at about -16 LUFS with a ceiling of -1.5 dB.
Does audio cleanup cost extra?
Each of the five audio tools uses 10 credits a clean. Silence removal and filler-word removal use none, though filler-word removal needs captions first, and captions use 10 credits.
Can it remove echo, or separate a voice from music?
No. None of the tools removes room echo or reverb, and none splits a recording into voice and music. The Voice enhancer shapes the voice that was recorded; it does not generate a new one.
Can I clean several clips at once?
The tools work on one selected clip at a time. A result is remembered for its recording, so asking for the same tool and strength again does not process it twice.
Do captions still line up after cleaning?
Yes. The five audio tools never change a recording's length, so captions and cuts stay where they were, and the transcript carries over to the cleaned clip.
